About the event
Thank you for signing up to help. We plan to do a nurdle hunt and see how many of these plastic pellets we find and clean up the immediate beach area.
Nurdles are plastic pellets that are melted and molded into our everyday plastic goods. They end up in the sea and on the beach through mishandling at factories and spills from container ships - by surveying how many we find and sharing this information to Fidra, we can help change laws to ensure less are lost to the environment. Fidra is an NGO working hard to stop global nurdle pollution and data is key to show the impact these polluting pellets are having on our ocean.
With proper legislation nurdle pollution could be reduced up to 95% as this would mean stricter processes during the handling and transportation of these plastic pellets.
