GREAT NURDLE HUNT -PLANET AWARE - help find and survey plastic pellet pollution on the IOW
Sat, 28 Sept
|Compton Bay, United Kingdom
come along to Compton beach and help us find plastic pellets created by the plastics industry and sadly end up in our sea and on our beaches. Family friendly event
Time & Location
28 Sept 2024, 12:30 – 14:30
Compton Bay, United Kingdom
About the event
Nurdles are a major source of primary plastic pollution worldwide, with over 445,000 tonnes entering the environment each year! Sadly we find these on many of our IOW beaches.
Nurdles are the feedstock that are used to create all our plastic goods and get lost through container spills or mismanagement along the supply chain. Most of this loss is preventable so by recording the extent of the problem, FIDRA hope to push for global policy change.
Take part in #TheGreatGlobalNurdleHunt and join calls for a strong #PlasticsTreaty to address global nurdle pollution👉 https://www.nurdlehunt.org.uk/take-part/the-great-global-nurdle-hunt.html
Family friendly event. Come for as long or as little as you like.
What to bring: suitable layers for the weather, protective gloves if you have them, if dry an old sieve to seive the sand and a plastic pot - but we have spare gloves, pots etc if you don't have one.
