Come and volunteer to either do a cigarette butt litter survey or just to head to the beach for a short while and do a litter pick. This month we are just meeting informally as we are holding our cigarette butt awareness stand thanks to the kind support of Ryde Town Council.
As part of our cigarette butt litter awareness campaign we will be near Appley park form 10am -1pm to hand out pocket ashtrays and share information about the impact of cigarette butt litter,
Cigarette butts are one of the most littered plastic item and smokers are often unaware that littered butts have an impact on the marine and coastal environment in the same way other littered plastic does. In addition cigarette butts contain a cocktail or other nasty chemicals which can pollute the water and are also harmful to creatures that ingest the butt fibres when…
