About the event
Come and join us on Yaverland beach and help survey and collect plastic pellets called nurdles.
These come from container ship spills and from poor factory practise. They are pellets which are the feed stock of all our plastic goods. They pollute the ocean and the coast and cause harm and even death to many marine species when eaten- they look like tiny eggs and even take on the smell of fish as well as absorbing and contained chemicals- a nasty toxic pill if eaten!!
This year we have a nurdle petition which asks the UK government to act and make similar laws to the EU to help prevent nurdle loss- you can sign and share it here :https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/759563
Then later in the year we have an exhibition at Quay Arts with works of art to raise awareness of the problems these pellets cause over their life time.
